Workers’ compensation is an important safety net for people who are injured or ill because of work. It helps them recover and return to work safely. However, stigma around workers’ compensation can discourage or prevent workers from making a claim and impact their recovery.

Creating positive and supportive workplaces is key to reducing stigma around workers’ compensation, and everyone has a role to play.

Safe Work Australia’s workers’ compensation stigma webpage provides a range of practical resources, including fact sheets, case studies and posters. These resources support employers, supervisors and workers to identify and reduce workers’ compensation stigma in their workplace.

From August to November, Safe Work Australia will share a series of posts on LinkedIn and Facebook. These will highlight practical actions that employers, supervisors and workers can take to reduce workers’ compensation stigma, while raising awareness of the National Return to Work Strategy 2020–2030.
