The Advancing the evidence: Safe Work Australia 2026 Research Update webinar was held on 20 May 2026 and highlighted the importance of collaboration in strengthening the WHS evidence base and translating research into policy and practice.
WHS Research Futures Symposium - 30 June 2026
The WHS Research Futures Symposium: Evidence shaping future policy and practice was held in Adelaide on 30 June 2026. Hosted by Adelaide University, the symposium brought together researchers, policymakers, regulators, industry, unions and practitioners to explore how evidence can strengthen work health and safety policy and practice.
Symposium highlights and outcomes
The symposium showcased Australian WHS research, supported emerging researchers and strengthened connections across research, policy and practice.
The program explored emerging technologies, psychosocial safety, workers’ compensation and the future of work through keynote and plenary presentations, concurrent research sessions, a panel discussion and an interactive session on future research needs.
Discussions highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary research, early engagement with end users and clear pathways for translating evidence into policy and workplace practice.
Safe Work Australia’s contribution
Safe Work Australia supported the symposium as an event partner and also contributed advisory input through the organising committee to help align the program with national WHS research priorities.
