Model Code of Practice: Managing risks of respirable crystalline silica in the workplace

This model Code of Practice provides practical guidance on how to comply with WHS duties to manage risks of working with respirable crystalline silica in the workplace. It is primarily intended for PCBUs.

Amendments:

• November 2025: Minor updates on pages 40, 41 and 61 to clarify relevant professional titles and reporting obligations. 
• November 2026: To support the transition from workplace exposure standards (WES) to workplace exposure limits (WEL), this model Code of Practice has been amended to reflect the change in terminology to WEL. The WEL comes into effect from 1 December 2026.
