Comdain Infrastructure is the winner of the 2017 Workplace Reward for their initiative which shared safety knowledge, empowered staff at all levels, and demonstrated a commitment to long-term work health and safety in their organisation.

Comdain’s Infrastructure’s ‘Safety Leadership’ campaign was inclusive, engaged staff at all levels, empowered them to make good safety choices and maximised knowledge retention across the organisation.

In an effort to raise awareness and improving safety outcomes, emphasis was placed on the phrase ‘Take the lead. Everyone. Every day.’ Activities were held across all sites and focused on change management and a different high-risk activity each week.

Comdain Infrastructure is to be particularly commended on their education program designed specifically to address WHS concerns within their business.

The Safety Leaders initiative was so well received by the organization of 450 staff that the education program will continue on a monthly basis.

Comdain will receive a prize valued at up to $5,000 to be spent on an Australian work health and safety conference, expo or event in 2018.

We would also like to congratulate joint runners up Coca-Cola Amatil (Northmead site) and Taronga Conservation Society Australia, and highly commend the University of Western Australia Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences for their excellent entry this year.

The Workplace Participation Reward is a National Safe Work Month initiative.
