Safe Work Australia has published a report by the University of Sydney about the findings of the Work Ability in Australia pilot study. Work ability is the capacity of workers to meet the demands of their jobs.
The aim of the study is to examine:
- how factors such as age, socioeconomic status, social support and health affect work ability
- how characteristics of the work environment such as industry and work design including working hours, skill usage, workplace communication, workplace support, supervisor competence and job demands affect work ability, and
- the relationship between work ability and factors related to productivity.
A research brief has been published with the report to provide an overview of the key findings.
