Safe Work Australia is a proud partner of BeUpstanding – a free, evidence-based workplace health behaviour change program designed to address the significant work health and safety and financial costs associated with prolonged sitting.
BeUpstanding at home!
The events of 2020 have seen many desk-based workplaces transitioning to, or increasing existing, working from home arrangements to minimise the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace.
Employers and businesses have had to adapt their policies and procedures and consult with workers to ensure WHS duties are being met when working from home, including minimising the risk of prolonged sitting.
Signing up to the BeUpstanding trial provides employers and businesses support and guidance to lead their organisations to reduce overall sitting time and implement strategies to increase standing time.
The BeUpstanding guidance includes a toolkit with fact sheets, videos and email templates which are tailored to desk-based workers working from home. Go to the BeUpstanding website for more information.
The BeUpstanding program was developed by researchers from the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland.
Information and resources on WHS duties and WHS risks associated with working from home during COVID-19 are also available on the Safe Work Australia website.
