Safety Ambassador Jerome Gubbels
Background information
I have been working in the construction industry for the last 14 years on numerous sites around Australia, mainly working as a dogman. Recently I have changed roles, and am currently working as a trainee safety advisor for John Holland on sites around Perth. This is a program developed to expose trainees to various sites with differing OH&S environments.
Why workplace safety is important to me
Workplace safety is important to me because injury statistics remain poor, particularly in the construction industry. I believe that every worker has the right to return home to their families every night without being harmed.
My plans for national Safe Work Australia Week
My plans are to run a safety campaign at my worksite, with the aim of getting the whole workforce involved in activities promoting safety culture.
Why I accepted the role as a national Safe Work Australia Week Safety Ambassador
I accepted the role as a safety ambassador because I see it as an opportunity to promote awareness and to build a strong safety culture at our worksite.
