Safety Ambassador Ian Carter
Background information
I am Managing Director of PBS Property Group (PBS). I have over 30 years experience in the industry and have overseen the growth of PBS from a local Canberra based residential building business to an integrated property group which now employs over 130 people across the ACT, NSW, and QLD.
Today PBS incorporates construction divisions focused on residential and commercial construction, and a property development division which has successfully delivered a range of residential and commercial property developments.
I am passionate about growing skills levels within the construction industry and I am a board member of MBA Group Training and Oz Help. I also hold an A-Class Builders Licence and am a graduate member of the AICD.
Why workplace safety is important to me
I support a safe work culture to encourage the wellbeing of staff, sub-contractors and the community. At PBS we promote workplace safety to help prevent incidents. My experience has shown me that a safe workplace is productive and supportive, end encourages the overall growth of the construction industry.
My plans for national Safe Work Australia Week
I will continue to support all workplace health and safety activities undertaken by PBS Property Group and personally visit as many project sites and PBS Offices as I can.
Why I accepted the role as a national Safe Work Australia Week Safety Ambassador
Leadership is essential to promoting a safe work culture within the construction industry. As Managing Director of PBS I believe it is important to drive cultural change from the top down in order to generate positive behaviours within PBS and throughout the industry. I’m looking forward to being a Safety Ambassador as this a significant way in which I can lead by example and demonstrate my commitment to a safe workplace.
