National Stevedoring Guidance Material
A package of national stevedoring guidance material that includes three booklets
– Working Safely on the Waterfront;
Working Safely with General Cargo – Steel Products; and
Working Safely with Containers – has been endorsed by Safe Work Australia.
This guidance material aims to reduce the incidence of fatalities and injuries on the waterfront by addressing environmental, physical, mechanical and psychosocial risks associated with stevedoring operations.
The booklets are a reference tool for employers and employees in the transport and storage industry, including shipping agents and stevedoring companies.
Each booklet contains a checklist, which is available separately.
