National Code of Practice for the Prevention of Falls in General Construction
The National Code of Practice for the Prevention of Falls in General Construction (General Falls Code) was declared by the Australian Safety and Compensation Council (ASCC) on 29 April 2008.
The General Falls Code aims to reduce the incidence of fatalities and injuries resulting from working at height in the civil construction sector and encourages a nationally consistent approach to the implementation of OHS in this industry.
The General Falls Code includes fall prevention measures that are recommended for use when working at heights of two metres or more, unless it is not reasonably practicable to do so, and adopts a risk management approach to fall prevention for working at heights of less than two metres.
