In May 2010 there were 12 work-related fatalities notifiable to Australian work health and safety jurisdictions — 10 male workers and 2 male bystanders. Over the period 1 July 2009 to 31 May 2010 there were a total of 118 work-related notified fatalities — including 16 bystanders. 25 August 2010: Safe Work Australia Chief Executive Officer, Mr Rex Hoy, today officially launched the Occupational noise-induced hearing loss in Australia publication at the Hearing Awareness Expo, run by the ACT Deafness Resource Centre.
