Statistics

Safe Work Australia compiles national statistics on work health and safety using information and data from multiple sources. The statistics are used to inform policies and measures that are related to work health and safety.

Lost-time injury frequency rates, total recordable injury frequency rates and medically treated injury frequency rates

Safe Work Australia is unable to provide lost-time injury frequency rates (LTIFRs), total recordable injury frequency rates (TRIFRs) or medically treated injury frequency rates (MTIFRs) because the national number of work-related injuries related to these rates is not known. Safe Work Australia publishes frequency rates of serious claims and they are available in the statistical tables above. A serious claim is an accepted workers’ compensation claim that involves one or more weeks away from work and excludes all fatalities, and all injuries and diseases experienced while travelling to or from work or while on a break away from the workplace.
