A full list of Designated Hazardous Substances can be obtained from the HSIS database by undertaking a ‘blank’ search. This will generate a complete list of hazardous substances for your reference, leave all fields blank and click search.

Information on a specific hazardous substance can be obtained from the HSIS database. Click Search Hazardous Substances under HSIS Navigation. Insert relevant information and click Search.

National Safe Work Australia Week

What is National Safe Work Australia Week?

National Safe Work Australia Week is held annually in October to raise awareness of workplace safety. The week aims to encourage all working Australians to get involved in, and concentrate on, safety in their workplace to reduce death, injury and disease.

Safe Work Australia Week is held during the last full working week of October each year. Activities are conducted by all jurisdictions during the week.

What are the Annual Safe Work Australia Awards ?

The Annual Safe Work Australia Awards are the national work health and safety awards in Australia. They acknowledge excellence in work health and safety at a government, organisational and individual level.

There are four Annual Safe Work Australia Award categories:

Category 1: Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System

a.         Private Sector

b.         Public Sector

Category 2: Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue

Category 3: Best Workplace Health and Safety practice/s in Small Business

Category 4: Best Individual Contribution to Workplace Health and Safety

  • An employee, such as a health and safety representative
  • An outstanding contribution by an OHS manager or a person with responsibility for work health and safety as part of their duties

When is World Day for Safety and Health at Work?

The 28 April is the International Labor Organization's (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This day is held every year with the aim to focus attention on promoting and creating a safe and healthy culture at work.
