An Evaluation of MSDS and Labels associated with the use of Engineered Nanomaterials

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and labels provide information in a workplace for the protection of health and safety of workers. A review of MSDS and labels for products containing Engineered Nanomaterials (ENM) is necessary to ensure that relevant, accurate and contextually correct information is presented to a workplace regarding ENMs.

This review found that, while the preparation date of a majority of MSDS and labels for products containing ENM’s was less than 5 years ago, most did not contain adequate and accurate information to inform an occupational risk assessment for nanomaterials contained in the product.
