Michael is an Assistant Secretary of the Australian Council of trade Unions (ACTU). He oversees the work of the Communications, Campaigns, Occupational Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation teams.
In addition to being a member of Safe Work Australia, Michael also represents the ACTU on the National Workplace Relations Consultative Council, Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission, and the Defence Industry Innovation Council.
Prior to his election as Assistant Secretary, Michael was an official of The Australian Workers’ Union between 1990 and 2010.
